What is lip augmentation?

In our world of social media and celebrity, lip Fillers have become synonymous with poor aesthetic practice. The ‘trout pout’ is a phrase often coined to describe over filled lips and if you can spot it, it is definitely not one of our patients!
Perfect Lips are all about the proportion and distribution of volume in the right part of the lip. When planning a lip filler treatment, we consider the anatomy of the lip, the ratios of the face, and the hydration of the tissues to achieve a naturally beautiful enhancement.
Subtle volume increase and shape enhancement are common requests at the Jonathan Britto Clinic and most of our patients don’t want to look like they have had their lips ‘done’.
Lip balance and asymmetry can be corrected with our ‘light touch’ technique. Jonathan’s surgical background in cleft lip and craniofacial analysis means that his inherent drive is to restore that youthful, soft, hydrated plumpness that says ‘healthy soft lip’ – which is also irresistibly attractive – and dare we say… ‘Sexy’!
Whether it be a single treatment or in combination with other aesthetic, restorative or surgical procedures, we take the time to achieve a result that brings out the best version of you.

The hyaluronic gel naturally breaks down and this process will be dependent on the metabolic processes of the body. The effects can last six to ten months before treatment is repeated.
At the jonathan britto clinic, we use the highest-grade hyaluronic acid fillers from certified suppliers and complete regular audits, generating statistical data on safety and quality of treatments. This gives our patients the reassurance they are being looked after safely.
Jonathan enjoys the technical aspects of lip and facial filler treatments, and conducts them with the same professionalism, skills, and commitment as he does his surgical practice.
Filler treatments change the internal physiology of the lip, the pressure within the lip, and the blood supply to the lip. The majority of the risks from this treatment therefore arise from poor injecting techniques that may cause permanent damage. It is crucial to seek treatment by experienced medical professionals to avoid complications.
Immediately after the treatment, the lips may look and feel temporarily swollen. The higher consistency gel fillers which are used for shape and volume may initially be felt by the tongue or examining finger, particularly for the structural fillers for deep wrinkles at the corner of the mouth. This soon subsides, and neither you nor a partner will be able to feel the filler.
In the hands of a skilled injector lip fillers are a tolerable treatment with minimal discomfort. Patients pain thresholds vary and for those who are less tolerant we can numb the lips with topical cream before the treatment to make the treatment even more comfortable.
As with all injectables, injection technique plays a big part in the comfort of this treatment along with using the highest quality needles. Many of the products we use contain a local anaesthetic so as the treatment progresses it becomes even more tolerable. It is extremely rare for any of our patients to comment that they have felt ‘pain’. Of course, we all appreciate a hand to hold!
