Jonathan has practised in plastic surgical consultancy for many years and has emerged as one of the UK’s most respected, well-established and authoritative voices in plastic, reconstructive, and craniofacial surgery.
From early beginnings as House Surgeon at The Royal London Hospital Trust to Residencies in the Harvard Hospitals of Boston, USA; and Fellowships in Paris and Toronto, Jonathan’s career was founded in patient care with an international perspective.
Developed a vocation for caring for children with craniofacial differences and quickly built a reputation for technical excellence, planning, procedural rigour, and attention to detail.
In 2004 he became Consultant Plastic and Craniofacial Surgeon at the internationally renowned St Andrews Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns, and in 2008, he was appointed Consultant Plastic and Craniofacial Surgeon at the world-famous Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
Visiting professorships have been woven through Jonathan’s career – as an invited speaker at the Boston Children’s Hospital, the Institute of Maxillofacial Surgery in Moscow, and as the Vale Visiting Professor at the Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto.
Jonathan continues to deliver lectures in aesthetic and reconstructive craniofacial surgery and his presented research was awarded the Syme Professorship Medal of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Two significant appointments at the Royal Society of Medicine have followed: President of the Section of Plastic Surgery (2014-2015) and Chairman of RSM Aesthetics-10 (2017-2018).
A vision to make a lasting and positive difference to people’s lives has been rewarded with many long-term patient and client relationships – an important and valued aspect of Jonathan’s work. His surgical and consulting expertise continues to be called on for complex, technically demanding and often high profile cases, much of which has been reported in the media.
Jonathan’s expertise in aesthetic surgery is acknowledged and recognised by his peers, where he is regularly invited to teach and join international faculty – such as at the world renowned “Face, Eyes, Nose Course” at Warwick University; the Aesthetics Masters at the University of Manchester, and the University of London, “Masters in Aesthetics”, where he is Co-Lead of the Head and Neck module and UCL Degree Examiner.
With welcome, compassion, and precision, Jonathan is available in his private practice to individuals requesting aesthetic plastic surgery to the face and breast; and reconstructive craniofacial procedures. In Jonathan’s philosophy, aesthetic plastic surgery is a higher specialty of medicine and surgery that brings ‘form and function, and a smile of wellbeing’ to his patients. He has devoted his professional life to acquiring the authority of experience, expertise, empathy, and a personal evidence – base of confident, natural, and balanced outcomes.
Clients are welcome by referral and private enquiry, and can expect to experience the same principles of technical excellence, personal warmth and patient care that characterise his international and UK health service practices.
