Lifestyle Medicine is a medical speciality, with a unique approach to ensure ‘Healthy longevity’. Based on sound scientific evidence, lifestyle medicine integrates positive lifestyle habits into modern medicine to promote good health and wellbeing.

Mentored changes in lifestyle habits prevent chronic disease – a 21st century epidemic – treating and reversing some conditions. We work in four domains: “EAT”, “MOVE”, “REVIVE”, and “SLEEP”, to find bespoke lifestyle approaches for your ‘healthy longevity’ – working synergistically and in parallel with other branches of medicine.

HEALTHY LONGEVITY

Today we can and do live longer than ever before. But do we live better? Current evidence shows otherwise. Those 20th Century advances which led to our longer lives have also promoted a new medical epidemic: chronic disease with low well-being.

Chronic fatigue, low energy, poor skin reduce our well-being and heart disease, cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s limit our function and impede our enjoyment and productivity.

Many of these health problems emerged out of our changed lifestyles and now impact heavily on our lives. In the last two decades observational studies and robust research have shown that lifestyle medicine techniques prevent, and may reverse, these conditions.

80% of chronic conditions can be avoided by adopting holistic multi-disciplinary lifestyle measures. Moreover, 90% of the time lifestyle modifications can override genetic factors causing ill health.

The geographic ‘blue zones’ are living evidence of ‘Healthy longevity’. Originally identified by the Italian epidemiologist, Gianni Pes and Belgian demographer, Michel Poulain, these five isolated geographical areas have been found to have a significantly higher than average number of healthy Centenarians!

They are living proof that specific healthy lifestyle habits, a clean environment and strong community can affect healthy longevity.
