Eyebrow Lift Surgery | Jonathan Britto Clinic

Eyebrow Lift surgery begins with careful analysis of facial anatomy, function, proportion and the changes that matter to the individual patient.

At the Jonathan Britto Clinic, the emphasis is on evidence-based excellence, layer-by-layer analysis and a natural result that remains individual to the patient. Here are ten of the questions people commonly ask when researching this procedure in London.

1. What is an eyebrow lift?

An eyebrow lift is another term used for browlift surgery, designed to reposition and reshape a brow that has descended. The operation may improve upper eyelid loading as well as facial appearance. Jonathan considers eyebrow position in relation to the forehead, eyelids, hairline, facial skeleton and natural expression.

2. How do I know if my eyebrows have dropped?

Signs can include reduced space between the eyebrow and upper eyelid, heaviness at the outer eyelid, forehead muscle overactivity and a tired or stern appearance that does not reflect how you feel. Comparison with earlier photographs can be useful, but clinical analysis is more important than eyebrow height alone.

3. Can an eyebrow lift improve hooded eyes?

Yes, if the hooding is partly created by brow descent. Lifting the brow can unload the upper eyelid and restore visible eyelid show. If genuine excess upper eyelid skin is also present, upper blepharoplasty may be required instead of, or alongside, brow surgery.

4. What is the difference between an eyebrow lift and blepharoplasty?

An eyebrow lift changes the position of the brow and forehead tissues. Blepharoplasty treats the eyelid itself. Because a low brow can mimic excess eyelid skin, Jonathan analyses both areas before recommending surgery.

5. Can just the outer eyebrow be lifted?

Yes, selected patients principally require support of the lateral or outer brow. This may be described as a temporal or lateral brow lift. Whether it is appropriate depends on brow shape, forehead anatomy, hairline and the balance of the central and outer brow.

6. Will an eyebrow lift change my expression?

The intention is to restore a natural, relaxed expression rather than create an artificial arch or surprised appearance. Men and women also have different typical brow positions. Surgical planning respects the patient’s own facial character and dynamic movement.

7. Can Neuromodulators lift the eyebrows instead of surgery?

Neuromodulators can produce a modest temporary change in eyebrow position by altering muscle balance. It cannot structurally reposition significantly descended tissues. For early changes, it may be appropriate, while established descent may be better addressed surgically.

8. Where are eyebrow lift scars?

Scar position varies with technique and hairline. Incisions can often be positioned within or around the hair-bearing scalp or temple. The proposed scar pattern is discussed during the analysis phase so that access, hairline and healing are considered together.

9. How long does eyebrow lift recovery take?

Bruising, swelling, tightness and temporary sensory changes may occur early in recovery. Jonathan’s browlift surgery is commonly performed with ‘Twilight’ conscious sedation as daycase surgery. The tissues progressively settle, with a stable visible result generally expected around six weeks.

10. How long does an eyebrow lift last?

The change in eyebrow position is long-lasting, but ageing continues. The operation restores the tissues to a new anatomical position rather than freezing the face in time. Skin quality, anatomy, lifestyle and genetics influence how the result evolves.
