Forehead Lift Surgery | Jonathan Britto Clinic

Forehead Lift surgery begins with careful analysis of facial anatomy, function, proportion and the changes that matter to the individual patient.

At the Jonathan Britto Clinic, the emphasis is on evidence-based excellence, layer-by-layer analysis and a natural result that remains individual to the patient. Here are ten of the questions people commonly ask when researching this procedure in London.

1. What is a forehead lift?

A forehead lift is part of the family of browlift procedures used to reposition the forehead and eyebrows. It may be requested for aesthetic rejuvenation or for functional reasons where brow descent loads the upper eyelids. Jonathan approaches the forehead layer by layer, considering skin, muscle, soft tissue, bone and hairline.

2. Is a forehead lift the same as a browlift?

The terms are often used interchangeably, although individual techniques may focus differently on the forehead, central brow or lateral brow. The useful question is not the label but which anatomical structures require correction and how they can be repositioned naturally.

3. Can a forehead lift reduce forehead lines?

A forehead lift may soften some lines by repositioning tissues and altering muscular relationships, but wrinkle removal is not its sole purpose. Dynamic lines are influenced by muscle activity and skin quality, so additional medical aesthetic or skin treatment may sometimes be considered.

4. Can a forehead lift help heavy upper eyelids?

Yes, when a descended forehead and brow are contributing to upper eyelid loading. Some patients use their forehead muscles continually to keep the brow elevated, particularly as the day progresses. Restoring brow position can improve comfort as well as appearance in suitable patients.

5. Should I have a forehead lift or upper blepharoplasty?

They address different structures. Forehead lift surgery repositions the brow and forehead, while upper blepharoplasty treats excess upper eyelid tissue. Treating the eyelid without assessing the brow can miss an important cause of heaviness, so both are analysed together.

6. Will a forehead lift raise my hairline?

The effect on the hairline depends on the technique selected and the patient’s starting anatomy. Forehead height and hairline position are important parts of planning. Jonathan chooses the surgical approach with these proportions in mind rather than considering the eyebrow alone.

7. What is an endoscopic forehead lift?

An endoscopic forehead lift uses small scalp incisions and specialised instruments to release and reposition forehead and brow tissues. It is one of several techniques available and is not automatically the best choice for every patient. Anatomy and desired correction determine suitability.

8. Will I look surprised after a forehead lift?

A well-planned forehead lift should preserve a natural expression. Excessive elevation is avoided by considering brow shape, sex, orbital anatomy, forehead height and the relationship with the eyelids. The objective is restoration rather than obvious alteration.

9. How long is recovery after a forehead lift?

Early swelling, bruising, tightness and temporary numbness can occur. Recovery varies with technique and combined procedures. Jonathan commonly uses ‘Twilight’ conscious sedation for brow and forehead surgery, with the visible result becoming stable at around six weeks.

10. How long do forehead lift results last?

Results are long-lasting, although ageing continues. The forehead and brow will gradually evolve with time, but from the improved position established by surgery. Longevity depends on anatomy, skin quality, genetics and lifestyle.
