Chemical peels are indicated for a host of skin concerns, damage and treating the signs of ageing. They are equally as effective as a preventive measure to maintain the health of the skin creating natural bio stimulation supporting function and a glowing appearance.

Sun damaged skin – “Actinic elastosis” (also referred to as solar elastosis) is a condition that is caused by extreme sun damage. The skin takes on a ‘leathery’ appearance and lines form in a ‘hashtag’ structure. Rough textured, thickened pigmented skin is associated with sun damage
Chemical peels not only peel away the visible damage – they stimulate the repair and regeneration of the dermal matrix proteins for improved immune protection, hydration, vascularity and aesthetics Chemical peeling techniques can be used on any areas that have been repeatedly exposed to the sun including the face, neck, décolleté and hands.
Fine lines and wrinkles. Specialised peels can be used to target the delicate area around the eyes and mouth giving smooth, clear, firm skin. Such fine lines and textural irregularities respond well to combination therapy with specialised fine dermal fillers and chemical peeling options.
Scarring. Deep acne scarring penetrates all the layers of the dermis making them difficult to treat. Chemical peels, in combination therapies, offer superior results over other treatment modalities. A course of peels refine the skin quality, in combination with fine fillers is a controllable ‘gold standard, manageable at patients own pace. Combined with topical medication creams including antibiotics, deep chemical peels offer a safe and effective treatment for this distressing condition.
Preparation and surgical recovery. The chemical peel is the mainstay of “treating the envelope”. Where the aesthetic surgery of the eyelids face and nose re-balances the structure, harmonises the shape, and treats the laxity, the chemical peel manages the intrinsic quality of the skin. It provides rehabilitation, optimisation of the skin health, and the aesthetic benefits that show off a surgical result to its very best.
Chemical peeling is a skin treatment that utilises specialised acids to visibly improve the structure, quality and functionality of the skin. Chemically active solutions are applied to the pre – conditioned skin to (induce a controlled ablation of unhealthy damaged skin and stimulate regeneration and repair. With these processes we achieve, improved barrier function, immunogenicity, skin health, and skin aesthetics.
The effect of a superficial peel is temporary will last a day or two only. These peels are used for an exfoliation and brightening of the skin in anticipation of a particular event or as a part of a regular skin health regime.
Deeper peels to the mid-dermis, require a longer recovery time (7 to 10 days), and have a beneficial effect on the skin for much longer. The quality of the result depends upon the quality of the maintenance programme. A typical chemical peel plan for the skin would depend upon the initial quality, condition and desired outcomes and so may be a single treatment or a course but may involve an initial ‘index’ chemical peel followed by a repeat at three months – and then followed up at home with maintenance care

Most of the skin health treatments are completely pain free, indeed they are relaxing and enjoyable. Superficial exfoliating chemical peels do not disturb the nerve supply of the skin. Treatments that penetrate into the dermis affect nerve endings, and there are some treatments such as deep chemical peels that have a short lived level of discomfort, which disappears completely by the end of the procedure.
In expert hands Chemical Peels are safe and extremely effective. The experienced practitioner is able to correctly match the range of peels to conditions and indications requiring treatment. Meticulous planning and preparation are essential to avoid risks associated with peels in particular deep peels. Expertly administered peels can give beautifully natural results, enhancing surgical procedures or as part of a skin health programme.
Whether it be a single treatment or in combination with other medical aesthetic treatments or surgical procedures, we take the time to achieve a result that brings out the best version of you.
